OUR FRUITS | LIME

ORIGIN, PRODUCTION & HARVEST

Limes are mainly grown in Brazil, Florida, Mexico, and in Martinique. There are various sizes ranging from 42 to 54, often packaged in 4.5 kg boxes.

The lime is a tropical fruit which originated from the Tahiti lime tree. This tree is a member of the large Rutaceae family (orange, mandarin, grapefruit, kumquat).

DESCRIPTION & APPEARANCE

They are often presented as being similar to lemons. However, limes are smaller and have an attractive bright green skin that is slightly supple when the fruit is ripe.

Lime flesh has a different flavour from lemons, characterized by acidity, and its capacity to produce a lot of juice, with a hint of sweetness.

Note also that limes from Brazil, when ripe, have a green colour with glints of yellow.

NUTRITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS
& PREPARATION

Their juice and flesh are prized for the freshness and tropical note that they bring to dishes and drinks.

Their high vitamin C content and numerous nutritional benefits (polyphenols, organic acids, fibre) make limes particularly good for maintaining a balanced diet in both the short and long term.
