OUR FRUITS | BANANAS

DESCRIPTION & APPEARANCE

The banana grows on a giant plant. Each year a banana plant produces a single bunch of about 300 bananas. Its tender, sweet and creamy flesh makes it the second most consumed fruit in the world.

ORIGIN & PRODUCTION

The production of bananas takes place in warm regions, especially in South and Central America.  The cultivated banana plant requires a well-drained, deep and slightly acidic soil. The culture is demanding in mineral elements.  Bananas, as is the case with most tropical products, need specific climatic conditions to develop (hot and humid climate). This is why they are almost exclusively grown in developing countries (about 98% of world production).

NUTRITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS
& PREPARATION

Bananas are among the most consumed fruits in the world.  Flavor and texture are influenced by the temperature at which they ripen. Its colors change from green to yellow and, in an advanced state of ripening, it tends to show brown spots corresponding to sugar accumulations. The level of maturity is also visible on the skin color.

The banana has many nutritional benefits: very rich in calories and iron, it also contains potassium, calcium and magnesium as well as antioxidants. The banana is perfect for the needs of children and sportsmen and women.

With 23 g of carbohydrates per 100 g of fruit, the banana facilitates recovery after the effort. It is also rich in vitamins A, B and C, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, iron and magnesium.
Contrary to popular belief, the banana does not  help to gain weight, because it is very low in fat (0.5 g per 100 g).

The banana brings smoothness and softness to your recipes: in dessert, "flambée" or roasted in salted version.
