DESCRIPTION & APPEARANCE
Covered in a brownish-green downy skin, the kiwi usually has firm, green flesh.
The kiwi is a climacteric fruit, i.e. it continues to ripen after harvesting.
ORIGIN & PRODUCTION
Consumed all over the world, the kiwi originated in China. It is mainly grown in New Zealand, Chile and Italy. France is the second biggest producer in Europe after Italy.

Kiwis can weigh up to 150 grams and are recognized for their high vitamin E content (1.2 mg/100 g). They have antioxidant properties. They are also packed with vitamin C, with an exceptional 80 mg/100 g (higher than most citrus fruit... ). Kiwis are rich in minerals, and contain a moderate number of calories (47 kcal/100 g).
They make a great addition to sweet-savoury dishes.
In short, kiwis are a great fruit to consume all year round.
