ORIGIN & PRODUCTION
Originating in India, ginger is a plant species whose rhizome is used in cooking and in traditional medicine. Ginger needs a tropical climate to grow well, where the temperature is high for most of the year, and the average annual rainfall is more than 2,000 mm.
Ginger is mainly grown in India and China.
NUTRITIONAL CHARACTERISTICS
& PREPARATION
Considered to be both a spice and an aphrodisiac, it is a very common ingredient in Asian cuisine in general.
While not everyone likes its spicy flavour, it is credited with numerous health benefits. We would note its beneficial effect on digestion, and its capacity to prevent nausea and vomiting in people who suffer from travel sickness. Ginger is also said to provide relief from migraines and pains caused by arthritis.
